Violeta de Frutos Menéndez is an architect and PhD researcher at the School of Architecture and Postgraduate Teaching Assistant in the School of Forest Engineering and Natural Resources within the field of Graphic Expression, both at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). She is also a member of the Cultural Landscape Research Group (GIPC). Her research examines architecture and territory in fantasy literature, with particular attention to the construction of fictional landscapes, spatial narrative, and cartographic representation in the works of J. R. R. Tolkien.
She has recently been awarded a visiting research scholarship at the Department of Comparative Literature at Yale University, where she will continue her research on the literary construction of territory and imagined landscapes.
