Nino Suchwalko is a DPhil student in Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford. He holds a BA degree in Classics from the Université Paris IV – Sorbonne, as well as two MA degrees in Classics and Modern Languages & Literatures at the Sorbonne and the École Normale Supérieure (Paris). He also studied Classics as a visiting student at Harvard University and Pisa’s Scuola Normale Superiore. His final Master’s thesis explored the Classical legacy of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and more specifically the influence of Virgil’s Aeneid on the novel’s depiction of journeys. His dissertation focuses on Classical narratives of decline in Tolkien’s works and their translation into contemporary fantasy.
